Thank you so much for caring enough to find us here. So you have found a distressed horse, sheep, goat or cow and want to know how you can help.
Many of the animals on the island are kept in unacceptable conditions. Hobbling of animals in Greece persists much to the shock and suffering of the visitors and animals. It is an age old practice and changing the mentally of people is our most difficult challenge.
As a small group of volunteers our main problem is finding hands to help and financing so we need every single one of our annual visitors to assist if possible.
Writing to the Town Hall and attaching photos may seem very little to help but it can and will slowly put pressure on the Town hall to act:
Town Hall Mykonos 84600 Greece.
Also animal cruelty is a police matter and should be reported. The police station is next to the airport. Be prepared that they may not view this as important but this is one of the reasons things do not change so insist. Again photographs are very important.
If the animal you wish to help seems to need medical assistance please call one of our island vets.
If you can afford the treatment it would be greatly appreciated as we have to raise thousands of Euro each month to help to the animals. Ask the vets for a discount as the animal is not yours. Please do whatever you can.
If you can’t afford the treatment, please take the animal to the vet anyway and ask them to get permission from Mykonos Animal Welfare to do whatever it is that needs to be done.
Every animal we save makes a difference. Thank you so much for caring. ❤
