On an island with too many unwanted animals and too few homes, preventing more litters is often the kindest option for the mother and for the animals who would otherwise be born into hardship.
The best next step is to take the animal to a local vet for sterilisation. Phone ahead so they know you are coming — they can advise on timing and what to expect.
