Mykonos Animal Welfare

Pregnant animal

We understand this can be upsetting.

On an island with too many unwanted animals and too few homes, preventing more litters is often the kindest option for the mother and for the animals who would otherwise be born into hardship.

The best next step is to take the animal to a local vet for sterilisation. Phone ahead so they know you are coming — they can advise on timing and what to expect.

What to do
  1. 1Call a vet from our listings and explain the situation
  2. 2If you need to catch the animal first, borrow a cage or trap from a pet shop or vet — call ahead
  3. 3Transport the animal safely in a carrier — see our catching guide
  4. 4The vet can perform sterilisation and any other care the animal needs

You do not need to wait for a reply from Mykonos Animal Welfare. A vet can help today.

If you have taken a stray to the vet and payment is difficult, contact us afterwards — we will do our best to help find support.
